Onwards and Upwards
When Ian Connell and Simon Watts decided to form thier own company in the summer of 2007, little did they know that the world economy was about to make a major u-turn. However, regardless of the recession Energy Freight was born.
Since that time, Energy Freight Forwarding LTD has not only survived a major recession but has built a solid business based on simply hard work and determination to succeed. It now operates from its newly bought premises in Summit Business Park in Felixstowe and has a staff of 7 people. With regular worldwide Import/Export FCL/LCL services, there are a few destinations the company cannot offer its clients by Land, Sea or Air.
Energy Freight Provides a number of value added services such as full customs clearance formalities and together with strategically chosen suppliers, the company can also offer logistic services that include haulage, warehousing and distribution, road freight and consultancey.
”Its been a lot of hard work,” says Mr Connell, ”and there have been times over the past couple of years when both Simon and i have wondered whether we had made the right decision. But with the trust and support of our clients, we have survived and are building a solid client base on which to go forward. We are looking ahead to some exciting times in 2010 and although we don’t expect things to be easy, we feel we have turned the corner and are ready to meet new challenghes”
Mr Connell previously spent part of his career working for Medite UK LTD (now MSC UK), which coincidentally is now a major supplier to Energy Freight, Mr Connell’s business partner Simon Watts started in the freight forwarding 25 years ago and has spent most of his career working in and around the haven ports.
”As Ian has said, its been an interesting two years but the important thing is that we have managed to grow a business during the biggest recession for two decades and have certainly learned a few lessons. We have excellent employees who have contributed a great deal towards the growth and success of our company. We have recently expanded our sales department and are looking to develop some new destinations during 2010.”
In order to meet the challenges head on, Energy freight has under gone a mini makeover, which has involved the investment in the design of a new website, brochure and colourful new logo.
